Code of Ethics

The Division of Early Childhood - Code of Ethics

1. We shall demonstrate in our behavior and language respect and appreciation for the unique value

and human potential of each child.

2. We shall demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, and honesty in all

our professional activities in order to inspire the trust and confidence of the children and families

and of those with whom we work.

3. We shall strive for the highest level of personal and professional competence by seeking and

using new evidence based information to improve our practices while also responding openly to

the suggestions of others.

NAEYC - Code of Ethics

Recognize that children are best understood and  supported in the context of family, culture, community and society.
Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each individual (child, family member, and colleague).

Respect diversity in children, families, and colleagues.

The code of ethics from the two organizations mentioned above are significant because it reflects the passion and respect that is necessary in order to effectively communicate and interact with children, parents, and community members.  It is definitely important as an educator because we have to be able to be professional, but also reveal our caring nature.
